Composition
Avipef: Each ml solution contains Pefloxacin BP 100 mg.
Description
Pefloxacin belongs to the 3rd generation of fluoroquinolones antibiotic that inhibits the activity of DNA-gyrase enzyme which leads to killing bacteria through stopping DNA replication and transcription. It is a dependable bactericidal and mycoplasmicidal. It has a synergistic action with aminoglycosides and beta-lactamase.
Indications
Pefloxacin is a broad-spectrum antibacterial with a wide range of activity against Gram-Positive, Gram-Negative bacteria, mixed infections caused by two or more types of organisms, and multi-drug resistant bacteria causing gastrointestinal infections, bone, and joint infections and severe systemic infections, skin, and tissue infections, Colisepticaemia, CRD, Pasteurellosis, infectious Coryza, Salmonellosis, Staphylococcal infections and secondary bacterial infections due to viral diseases.
Dosage & Administration
Side Effects
Pefloxacin is well tolerated at the recommended dose. However, damage to joint cartilage may occur during the growing period when medication is continued for a prolonged time.
Precautions
After the end of treatment, the watering system should be cleaned appropriately to prevent the intake of remaining sub-therapeutic doses of the drug, which may lead to resistance.
Use in Pregnancy & Lactation
Should not be used in a layer within 14 days of coming into lay.
Drug Interaction
Pefloxacin absorption is influenced by antacid containing Aluminium or Magnesium hydroxide.
OverDose
In cases of significant overdose, transient reduction of mobility, and cramps may occur.

Protect from light & keep in a cool and dry place. Keep out of the reach of children.
